The crew here at zipDJ wanted to sink our teeth into Traktor Pro and figured this may be a good time to review this piece of software and cover some of its features.

Traktor Pro 2, is an integrated DJ software with studio-quality EQs and filters, flexible performance effects, automatic beat-matching and intuitive control functions that accommodate DJs of all styles and experience levels.

TRAKTOR is the pro platform that top DJs trust, and TRAKTOR PRO 2 with Stems and Remix Deck technology is the most advanced version of TRAKTOR ever. You can perform your mix on up to four decks, featuring colored waveforms, powerful looping and cueing functionality and an exceptional effects suite.

One thing we noticed and liked right away were the colored waveforms. Yes, Serato also has this available but with Traktor, you can customize to your own preferred look by selecting one of four different modes. Another feature that we found made mixing easier was the colour change when selecting a loop. The waveform portion of the loop that is selected, goes green which makes it very easy to quickly find and identify portions of the track like a kick or drop.

A great feature which we all loved were the Remix Decks. You have the ability to load loops and sounds into four sample banks per deck. These Remix Decks can then be controlled via your keyboard, mouse or a midi controller such as the TRAKTOR KONTROL F1 should you have one attached. What this does is allow DJs to do remixes as you play. You can use loops you have created or load up some of the premade samples provided. Another addition to this version of Traktor were some cool new effects. Bouncer, Auto Bouncer, Tape Delay and Ramp Delay are all included and add great versatility to what a DJ can do to put his own stamp on the mixes.

Overall, since we started road-testing this package it really has become like second nature to us. We were all able to jump right in and really make use of how fantastic this software really is. As the war between DJ software continues, we would say Native Instruments have really taken a leap ahead and provided one of THE best tools a DJ could have.
