The zipDJ Member Tip Sheet (July 2011)

That’s right DJ’s. We’ve created a tip sheet section on our blog full of important information regarding the zipDJ service. Here you will find information about website updates and user tips.

We will also expose things you may not have known about the website to enhance your experience. Blog posts in this section can be thought of as ‘DJ-Only’ content for our members, and those of you curious about the inner workings of our service.

Here’s a recap of the content that was announced in July:

SITE UPGRADES!

Update on what we’ve added to the site recently, and what’s to come in the near future:

Language Support
This addition coincides with the launch of zipDJ Brazil, and our efforts to create a musically friendly experience on a global scale. As we enter more territories, different languages will be available to all our users. To translate the site into Portuguese for example, simply click on the Language dropdown menu in the upper right corner. More languages coming soon!

Sub-Genres (Coming Soon!)
Music posted on zipDJ is slowly being populated into sub-genres, making it even easier for you to find music you need. Sub-genres will be added to the ‘Genre’ pulldown menu as they become active. We are currently working on sub-genres within Dance and Urban music.

KEEP SEEING THE SAME NEW RELEASES?

You may have noticed a repeat of song postings listed in ‘New Releases’ weeks after they were originally placed on the site. Here’s why:

When a new MIX is added to an existing release (e.g. ABC Remix of Track X by Artist Y) it automatically places that release back into the top of the New Release list. Then the release is made live. As you have seen, we try to keep all mixes together in the same pack so that you don’t have to run all over the website to find different mixes of the same song.

The next time you see what might look like a ‘repeat’ new release, click on the INFO tab or simply hover your cursor over the artwork or label. The word “UPDATE” will always appear in the text box for a release to let you know that new mixes have been added to the mix pack.

SEARCHING BY MIX

Did you know you can also search by remix, remix artist, or chart listing? To do this, simply click on the little arrow right beside the Search field to expand the various search filters. Here’s an example:

Searching for Acapellas & Instrumentals
* Click arrow, Select Track/Mix from the Pulldown Menu
* Type  ‘Acapella’ or ‘Instrumental’
* Refine your results by genre from the middle pane where your results show.

You can also use the same method to search for remixes – To do this select Track/Mix and type in the name of the remixer you’re looking for.
